Half Training Rambles

I let you guys know last Friday that ya girl signed up for another half marathon! I will be running the Knoxville Half again this April! I am a little more nervous this go around mostly because I am trying to balance crossfit and my running schedule. It is a lot more challenging than I anticipated. My runs are scheduled for Tuesdays and Sundays (and if I have some extra time I will run once more during the week). This week was a little wonky. I had a 5 miler planed for Tuesday but back squatted #185 5x5 on Monday (!!!) therefore that 5 miles was NOT happening Tuesday. Instead I knocked out my 5 miler last night. Situations like that is what makes me anxious. But the good news is, during my 5 miler yesterday I felt GREAT and fast (which never happens insert turtle emoji). I could see myself actually running 13.1 so that was encouraging.

Also, this go-around my pace is about 30-40 seconds faster than this time last year which isn't AMAZING but it makes a difference especially on the longer runs. I want to say I am faster  because of my new running equipment (I'll do a review in a post next week) but I think it is because I am a little bit lighter, more muscular and have a stronger core!

If you guys have any training questions let me know! I am going to try and start tweeting and taking more pics throughout my training.

P.S. Did you guys watch the Olympic Trials?! Those men and women are FAST. It is seriously so amazing.

  1. What do you do about running in the cold? Do you run on an indoor track or treadmill? Or just stick it out?
