For a lot of people eating healthy is relatively easy until they get to the weekend then they blow it. What's the point of meal planning and prepping if you are just going to treat yourself like a garbage disposal all weekend? One meal won't ruin you but EVERY meal for the ENTIRE weekend will. Seriously, if I had a dollar for the amount of people that tell me they do good during the week and then blow it on the weekend, I would legit never have to work again.
I am here to tell you it is possible to survive the weekend and stay on track! Here are a few tips that help me stay on track during the weekend.
Plan ahead.
An obvious tip right? If I know for a fact I am going to brunch Sunday morning. I make sure to cook at home Friday and Saturday.
Grandma status: If I am going to a planned brunch or dinner sometimes I'll get online and check out the menu and look for healthy options.
Have self control.
Easier said than done, I know.
If something comes up randomly I try and make the best decisions possible. Example: Saturday I went to a cookout and had bbq pork and grapes. I opted out of the mac & cheese and cookies. People looked at me weird but, it is all about confidence and self control in those types of situations.
Start your day off with a healthy meal.
I know for me, it really helps if I eat a heathy breakfast to kick start my day. That way I continue to stay on track the rest of the day. I have found that if you start your day off with something junky you will most likely continue eating junky all day long because you've lost the will to care. Zero effs given.
I knew I would be brunching this weekend and told myself ahead of time I would try and find an omelet or an entree with eggs. Luckily the place I went had an awesome spinach, onion and pastrami omelet. I was able to go out and enjoy brunch with one of my best friends and stay on my diet at the same time. However, the urge to order a mimosa was too real. Is it even considered brunch if you don't order a mimosa or bloody mary. I'm doing it all wrong I think.
How do you stay on track throughout the weekend?
