Why you don't need a cleanse

October 9th I decided I was going to do an Advocare 10 day cleanse. I updated you guys last Friday and told you I bailed out early. I bailed early because I was going out of town for the weekend and knew my eating wouldn't be perfect but I told myself I would pick the cleanse back up when I got back and just keep on going for two extra days. When I got back I restarted the fiber drink and it made me bloat SO bad. Like, we are talking uncomfortable hard to sit or eat bloat. Sorry TMI but we are talking super miserable about to bust out of my jeans at any moment terrible bloat.  I thought it was because of my bad eating over the weekend so I powered through and tried again the next day but the bloat didn't get any better. So, I made an executive decision to end the cleanse all together. Note: My first few days doing the cleanse I bloated a little but it got progressively worse.

My take away. I have known this but tried to convince myself otherwise. I don't need a fiber drink or some challenge to 'cleanse' my body. I don't need a magic drink or shake. I don't need any pills or supplements. In fact, none of us do. You know what cleanses the body? Eating whole, real foods and no junk or alcohol for a few days. You need dedication, meal prep and hard work. I thought doing this cleanse would aid my already healthy habits but it really didn't do much for me. I know tons of people swear by Advocare and cleanses in general but to each their own. This is just my opinion and my experience.

I have to say, the one good thing that came out of this aside from getting back on track with my meal prep and clean eating is the Advocare Spark. The strawberry mango spark is SO GOOD. I thought it was the perfect morning fuel to perk me up on my way to work.

Ya know, sometimes I get all worked up and think I need to be taking supplements or doing challenges and cleanses but in actuality I just need to clean up my diet. It takes some serious willpower but is totally do-able. Sorry for the word vomit today and sorry if I seem a little hypocritical-ish from my cleanse post. Cleanses and supplements can help certain people but just know you can do without them and still succeed!

  1. I feel you...I did the same 3 day cleanse twice. The 1st time was okay, but I didn't lose that much weight for me to feel like it was worth it. The 2nd time I gave up the night of the 2nd day. I was so disgusted by the shakes I had to make that I just didn't care how much I spent on it. No more cleanses!

    1. I'm glad you agree with me!!! There are so many better options than cleanses.
