Why I love the CrossFit Open

Feb. 21 Sunday Night: Fine. I'll sign up for the Open. What do I have to lose except my dignity, right?!

We are now at the 4th week and I just did 16.4 last night and amazed myself. Here is the workout...

13 minute AMRAP of...
55 deadlifts 225/155
55 wallballs 20/14
55 calorie row
55 HSPU

I got my first ever kipping hand stand push up last week so I was determined to make it it the wall despite the Airmen not even making it off the rower during the announcement Thursday. To say I was nervous was an understatement but I just wanted ONE HSPU to prove I could do it during a workout!

Not only did I make it off the rower and get FIVE handstand pushups, my deadlifts, wall balls and rowing were all super fast. I remember back in the summer I could barely rep out 155 on a deadlift. I have improved so much and I think that is really why I truly have loved the Crossfit Open. It has showed me how far I have come and what all I need to work on (eh em, bar muscle ups).

The Open brings our little Kennesaw/Acworth community together to kick some butt and show all of our hard work off! Next week is the last announcement WOD and it is starting to feel a little bittersweet. But that just means we can use the down time to work harder and improve on skills!
