Happy Tuesday! I just want to make a comment before I dive into today's post! I am totally still WRECKED from doing 16.4 on Friday. Anyone else feel me?! Lower back = dead. Glutes = dead. Hammies = dead. I digress.
Today I am going to share my thoughts on some recent hair and skin care pick-ups. I know I am no beauty blogger, not even close but I am a gal who is on a mission to take better care of her hair and skin! I spend a lot of time sweating and getting pretty nasty in the gym so this is my little guide to what beauty products that have been working well for me.
Hair
I mentioned in this post I switched to pareben free shampoo and stopped washing my hair so frequently and it has been a game changer. Here is what I have tried and recommend...
1. Redken Extreme Shampoo + Conditioner.
This stuff worked really well! I did feel like my hair was super dry after washing but once I brushed my hair and used a leave in conditioner it was not dry at all. I will probably try Redken again just pick up a different type!
2. Loreal Everpure Moisture Shampoo + Conditioner.
I would go with this brand if you are looking to keep costs down and not spend a fortune on shampoo and conditioner. The sulfate free everpure works just as well as Redken in my opinion!
Currently, I am using Pureology. Next on my list of things to try is Living Proof and Bumble and Bumble. I know these shampoos and conditioners can get a little pricey but I believe in the investment. My hair has done a complete 360 after using nicer products. I mean, you get what you pay for right!? Also, I use to be be super persistent about washing my hair everyday and now I can go a day or two without washing and my hair looks great! I really believe this is due to using nicer products!
P.S. I am trying out a few leave in conditioners. Will report back soon!
Skincare - Face Wash
Skincare has become increasingly important to me ever since I started seeing the dermatologist last year. I have been experimenting with all kinds of more expensive products and more natural products to find a perfect routine to keep skin my skin clear and healthy.
Sidenote: I picked up the Whole Foods beauty sampler last week and I can't wait to use and review some of those goodies!
Here is what I have been using recently and have been loving. I am on the quest for better though!
1. Origins Checks and Balances
This stuff is great! It gets super foamy and cleans the face well. I wasn't blown away by this by any means but I would repurchase.
2. Philosophy Purity
I just finished this face wash and I really loved it! It was totally different than checks and balances. I think this once cleared up my skin a bit more than the Origins but both were great. I would repurchase this as well.
Next on my list of things to try are: a few items from the Whole Foods sampler, Acure cleansing face gel, Fresh Soy Face Wash and Tula products.
Masks
I have been into masks lately. I haven't tried or bought a lot of them but I have done tons of research!
1. Acure Pore Minimizing Red Clay Mask
Let me just preface by saying I have been loving Acure. I was introduced to this brand by a fellow crossfitter and blogger! I have pretty sensitive skin and everything I have tested from them (will talk more in another post) has been wonderful! Acures products are all super affordable and great quality! I have been using the mask twice a week for a few weeks now and I think it is great! It smells a little funny and you look terrifying with it on because it is red but it really has reduced my pores! Especially on my nose where I am known to have bigger pores! Loving this, will repurchase.
I am also trying out Dermae Charcoal Mask right now and IN LOVE. I am also super interested in trying Acures Stem Simulating mask, GlamGlow Gravity Mud, Fresh Rose Face Mask and Origins over night mask.
SO many masks, so little time.
Toner + Moisturizer
I have been finishing up my Clinique toner and moisturizer. I haven't bought anything yet to replace these two things when they run out but I have a few things I am going to check out ASAP. I have nothing bad to say about Clinique skincare. Their moisturizers and gentle toner has always worked well for me!
-----
Ok. Whew! That is all I have for today! I am testing out so many different things right now my mom says my bathroom looks like Sephora. It's fine. But seriously, I am on a mission to find the best all natural products for my skin type (super sensitive and combination/oily). It has become super important to me to take care of my skin while I'm young so when I get older I won't be struggling. Well... I'll still probably be struggling but at least I will be happy I took care of my skin in my 20's! Youfeelme? Over a year ago a made a vow to never lay in the tanning bed again and always wear sunscreen especially on my face. I might be a ghost during the winter but at least I am healthy and looking out for my 40 year old self.
See ya next time when I review some more fun things like facial oils and leave in conditioners! :)
