Weekend Guide To Nashville

For my twenty fifth Birthday last weekend I made a rather impulsive decision to book a hotel in Nashville for two nights with Andrew. I have always wanted to visit Nashville and I am only a measly three hours away so, WHY NOT.

Prior to my trip I scoured the Internet for the greatest restaurants, must-see sights and go-to bars. I only had Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday morning to spend in Nash so I wanted to make the most of my trip!

I am going to recap my trip and tell you all about the places you must go to and places I wouldn't waste my time on. Disclaimer: this trip did not include working out and/or healthy eating. 😅 The thought was there.

Friday Evening Arrival:
There were so many hotels to pick from in the downtown Nashville area. I knew I didn't want to spend a fortune but I also wanted to be sure I was in walking distance to Broadway. I ended up booking the Courtyard Marriott on Church St. and 4th. I HIGHLY recommend staying here. Parking and check in were both a breeze. Our room was nice (the view was not but we didn't care) and Everywhere I knew I wanted to go was within walking distance. It really was the perfect location.

Andrew and I got into town around 7p.m. From there I knew I wanted to have dinner somewhere relaxed and with music, duh! I ended up at Acme. What an awesome place!! Probably one of my favorite places in Nashville. We ordered dinner and mule kickers on the first floor and listened to an amazing band play. Acme has two more stories with more drinks and more live music. I could have stayed here all night!

From there we stopped by the classics, Tin Roof (another fav), Paradise Park and Crazy Town.

Saturday:
Saturday I knew I had to go grab brunch at Biscuit Love. You know.... the popular brunch place with the infamous light up Nashville sign in The Gulch. Andrew and I ubered there to find out that there was an hour and a half wait. No ma'am. I was too hungry to wait. Luckily, a friend of mine told me I HAD to go to Saint Anejo for their hot chicken and waffles. SOLD. It really was the perfect situation for us as, Saint Anejo was a five-ish minute walk from Biscuit Love. On the way, we hit one the infamous wing mural. Of course we had to take pictures....

The situation could not have turned out better. The hot chicken and waffles were the real deal. Seriously. I will probably dream about these. (Thanks for the rec, Cait)! Andrew got a Michelada. Which I can only describe as a bloody mary mixed with beer and it was weirdly delicious. After brunch, we were off to visit Reese Witherspoon's Draper James and the "I believe in Nashville" mural on 12th. I liked this little shopping spot however, all of the shops and restaurants were crowded. Specifically, the Frothy Monkey was INSANE. All I wanted was an iced coffee and the line was out the door. Which seemed to be a trend in Nashville. My one recommendation would be to make reservations anywhere you want to go - if you can.

After checking out Draper James and getting pictures at the mural, back in the uber we went to be tourists and visit the Country Music Hall of Fame. When in country music land, right? Andrew and I got lucky and a wonderfully nice couple gave us their tickets while we were standing outside! So nice and saved us $50 bucks which in hindsight I am glad I didn't spend, haha! It was very interesting and I love me some country music history but, I don't think I would want to spend $50 bucks on it. Honestly, I was mostly just happy to be in the air conditioning!

For the rest of the afternoon we stopped by several places all of which I recommend...
- John Seigenthaler Bridge
- George Jones Museum
- Wildhorse
- Rock Bottom Brewery

Note: There was actually a USA soccer game going on at Nissan Stadium. I wish we would have known about this game sooner so we could have gotten tickets. Not that I care a lot about soccer but the atmosphere was insane.

We headed back to the hotel, cleaned up and ubered out to Pinewood Social for our dinner reservation. I originally wanted to have dinner at the Merchant's Restaurant but they did not have any reservations open. Pinewood social was my next choice. They have a beautiful bar with even more gorgeous and delicious drinks. They have a bowling alley, pool and bocce ball area. It was such a trendy little hangout. The only unfortante part was, Andrew and I both didn't love the food. Oh well! Also, I am dumb and didn't get the frozen Rose drink they were serving outside. If you go to Pinewood Social, please get this drink and report back to me. Thanks!

After dinner we walked back to Broadway. We hit Honky Tonk Central, Tequila Cowboy, Coyote Ugly, The Stage, Tootsies (which was way too packed to even have fun in), Crazy Town and probably some other that I am forgetting!

My favorite bars were: Tin Roof, Crazy Town and ACME.
Too crowded for life and would not recommend bars were: Tootsies and Honky Tonk Central.

Sunday
Sunday morning I had my eye set on Pancake Pantry or Fido over in the Hillsboro Village near Vanderbilt. We ended up going to Fido because the Pancake Pantry line was a mile long. Also, there was a Biscuit Love over by these restaurants. The line didn't look nearly as long as the Biscuit Love line in The Gluch. Just something to note. Anyways! We ended up at Fido for the most amazing brunch. Don't let the longish line fool you. It goes by quickly! I recommend the huevos racheros and you HAVE to get a chocolate chip pancake. That was probably the best pancake I have ever had in my entire life. No lie. Andrew got a Bulldog, it was brewed coffee with espresso and literally chugged it and hasn't stopped talking about it since.

Andrew and I then waddled out of Fido and shopped at the local boutiques that were in the area. Right across the street is a store called Native + Nomad that is where you can find the infamous NASH hats. You're welcome.

After that, we headed back to Atlanta. Such a fun trip. I literally did almost everything I set out to do for such a short amount of time that I had to do it all. I literally cannot wait to go back! Nashville has great food, music, shopping, culture and fun. Definitely go to Nashville if you have the chance, watch out for the millions of bachelorette parties you will run into. You've been warned.
