So much for keeping you guys updated on my half marathon training. I last updated you guys early March when I ran my 8 miler. I have to admit, that was the last long run I did. Yikes. I really didn't take training as seriously this year. I honestly think it is because I knew the course and wasn't super worried about it. Not to mention it was really hard balancing running and Crossfit. Who would have thought it would be hard to run 5 miles after back squatting 200# 3x3. I mean really, not smart Alex.
So. My training was super spotty but I managed to survive yesterday. I am seriously SO sore (RIP knees and hip flexors) but I beat my time last year and I didn't stop once! I conquered the hills and more importantly the downhills (those HURT).
I wouldn't recommend runners to train like I 'trained' (that will be another post for another day). But, lucky for me I am athletic enough and I made it happen. In all honesty when I hit mile 8 and my hips were dying I was thinking 'hey, at least I am not doing 16.5 again, hah!
I REALLY want to run this race again next year and take training more seriously. I am also signed up for Hotlanta so maybe I will train harder for that one in June.
I really love racing and I really love crossfit. Maybe one day I will figure out how to juggle both! I will post this week some tips on training for a half marathon as well as my half marathon playlist if you guys are interested! Let me know in the comments below :)
